Look At This!

I decided to put up different album covers because I fell like not a lot of people realize how beautiful they actually are. I tried to find the artists but they weren’t listed, they definitely don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Viewbook is a great website if your looking for a place to put your work up and look at others work to get some ideas. It’s only free for thirty days so if you want to create a website of your own you would have to pay $20 a month. There are also tours you can watch on their website to become more familiar with it before you get started. From what I have seen so far it looks like it’s pretty easy to navigate and everyones websites that I looked at look pretty professional.

When designing a logo one of the most important things to consider is your usage of positive and negative space. Creating perfect balance between both positive and negative space gives your viewers places to stop and go in a composition. Being able to keep their attention and guide their eye across an entire composition makes for a great piece.

by Peloton Design

The USA Network logo, created by Peloton Design does a nice job spacing the letter in the work network, making it easy to read. By using positive and negative space the designer also creates the letters USA. Although the letter S is not actually there because of the use of positive and negative space the viewers eyes recognize the form as the letter S.

Here are some others that I thought exhibited a great composition as well.

Identity System

April 24, 2012

To create a successful identity system there are many things you have to take into consideration. Simplicity, in my opinion is one of the most important things you should keep in mind while creating an identity for a client. Reason being that your client and your viewing audience don’t have the same creative visions you the designer may have. So if you keep it simple, colorful, and exciting you should be on an easy road to success.

Apple Inc., one of the most successful identity systems in the world is one of my biggest inspirations for my next project.

What are some words that come to mind when you think of an apple?

Is it…Healthy, Juicy, Delicious, Red, Green, Yellow?

Well when the creators of the Apple Inc. identity system came together to design this beautiful logo they used all these words and more to come up with the best product that now sits in billions of home today. It’s crazy to think this all started with a simple Apple.

While searching the internet I also came across a few other identity systems that I think are successful for the same reasons.
