Identity Systems

March 13, 2012

I find the Apple logo to be a well-done identity system. Using an apple for the logo is so simple but it works. I also like that it has no words, unlike its original design. The original design was in my opinion a little too busy. The new design is pretty self-explanatory so once you see the apple you associate it with the company Apple. The original design of the apple was multi-colored but I think the monochromatic scheme works better overall.

The first logo was created in 1976 by the third co-founder of Apple, Ronald Wayne. It was Isaac Newton sitting under a tree with an apple hanging over his head. This idea only lasted a year until Steve jobs commissioned Rob Janoff to come up with a new idea, behold the apple.
